After a lack of sustained snow lead to a disappointing season of having to close down for the season, Misery Mountain has finally received some good news.
The Peace River Ski Club is in the process of slowly acquiring a quad chairlfit for the hill, that would feature 88 chairs and would come with a $926 thousand dollar price tag.
The chair lift would run 1200 metres and about 10 to 15 degrees to the west of the current rope-tow to the top of the hill. By having this new piece of equipment at the hill, events could be held year around at the top of the mountain.
The new feature on the mountain would also benefit the entire community according to club President Sean Banks.
"All of the businesses in Peace River will benefit from us brining in the lift, we are also going to be able to introduce year round employment for Peace River and the surrounding communities to youths and adults, because we are going to need staff to maintain and operate the chair lift". He said.
Banks also says at the present time a lift is the most feasable option for the mountain.
